
Barn Conversions
- View of the original Coach House, Allendale Estates
- Grade 2 listed building that had to be partially rebuilt and fully refurbished over a period of 7 months
- View from within the barn prior to works commencing
- Part of the roof structure was retained and repauired using traditional techniques and materials
- The ladycross stone roof was fully stripped and salvaged to allow for extensive timber roof repairs and the application of a timber preservative
- The roofing stones were numbered and stored for re-use. Additional stones had to be sourced from Tynedale Quarry
- The chimney was dismantled and rebuilt with the original features
- Rebuilding of the front elevation off a new foundation using hand cut replacement stone, weathered and aged
- Stone window sills and head stones were all duplicated from the original
The rebuilt walls were all reconstructed with a cavity and insulation to comply with modern regulations
- Within the completed barn the original roof structure is exposed, showing the dragon ties and featured truss.
- Spot lighting is used to show off original features and give a modern look
- The completed front elevation showing new sliding box windows constructed to original dimensions and purpose made exterior hand wood doors
