Insurance funded reinstatement/restoration work carried out to a terrace of Victorian Stonebuilt houses following severe flooding to the properties. Work involved a complete strip out of lower floors and reinstatement of floors, plaster, kitchens, doors, windows and bathrooms/toilets

  • Severity of flooding to terrace
  • Water reached approximately 1m depth at the most shallow end of the street

  • Plaster was hacked back to masonry to a height of 1.5m. An injected damp-proof course was installed to all houses, followed by replastering with a damp proof render.
  • Flooring and floor joists were removed and specially milled sized joists and flooring was reinstated

  • Skirting boards, architraves, doors and frames were replaced to match existing profiles.
  • New heating systems were installed
  • Complete rewires were carried out to ground floor areas. New kitchens and bathrooms / W.C.s were installed. Ground floors, stairs and landings were fully redecorated

  • Throughout the contracts, three seperate building surveying practices were involved
  • It was necessary to liase with house owners on a daily basis
  • Reoccupation was phased over a period of two months
